Is there an option for remote learning? No. While there is no remote learning option for Fannie Lou, there has always been the option for home instruction for medically vulnerable students. To receive this service you must apply directly to the NYCDoE. Find out more information on the NYCDoE's website at https://www.schools.nyc.gov/learning/programs/medically-necessary-instruction

General School Policies
Primary Rule: Nothing interferes with teaching and learning.
COVID 19- Safety Procedures: Everyone in the school is required to wear masks inside and outside and maintain social distance according to CDC guidelines. Upon entry students are required to complete a health screening. Hand sanitizer and masks will be made readily available (other PPE may be made available upon request). The school building has installed HEPA filters in the HVAC system and each classroom will have two stand alone air filters. COVID testing will occur every two weeks and 10% of the students will be randomly selected for a test.
Hall Pass Policy: Only those students with an official pass to a specified location are permitted in the hallway. An official pass includes the date, time, destination, and the signature of a school staff member. While en route, any staff member may request to see a students' pass. Students will be held accountable to the reason stated on the pass.
Electronic Devices: Cell phones, smart watches, mP3 players, headphones, and speakers are not to be seen or heard at anytime anywhere in the building. Electronic devices must be powered off while in the school building. Our school uses YONDR, a simple, easy-to-use case that securely stores electronic devices and accessories. When students arrive at school, they will place their device and accessories in a YONDR case which is then locked. Students will maintain possession of their devices, but will not be able to use them until they are unlocked at the end of the day. Should a teacher decide to use devices for educational purposes, they will be able to open and re-close the cases. The school, its administration and its staff are not responsible for lost or stolen devices.
Dress Code: At FLHFHS, we do not require a uniform, but instead, we encourage students to make professional and appropriate choices from their wardrobes. Students who come to school dressed improperly will be asked to put on a piece of school sponsored clothing.
Physical Conflicts: A physical fight is defined as an exchange of blows or one student assaulting another student. Play fighting, hitting back, or hitting 'because' shall be treated as a fight. Students involved in physical fights shall be removed from the classroom or other school area for an immediate conference with school staff. All parties involved in a fight (fighters, instigators, and conspirators) must write or dictate a statement describing the events that led up to the fight. All students involved in the fight must participate in conflict mediation before they may return to class. Conflict mediation will not occur until all parties are ready to speak calmly about the incident. Parents will be contacted before the end of the school day on the day of the fight. In the case of suspensions, a letter must be given to the student as well as mailed to the home. Depending on the circumstances surrounding the fight and, taking into consideration the history of the students involved, parents may, or may not, be asked to come to school for a conference before the students may return to class. Consequences of fighting will be determined by school administration in accordance with the NYCDoE Discipline Code.
