Fannie Lou Students Receive College Credits and Paid Internship through Work, Learn, and Grow

The WorkLearn & Grow Employment Program (WLG) is a New York City Council-funded initiative designed to build off of the experiences gained in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). WLG provides participants of the 2020 SYEP who are between the ages of 16-19 and currently in-school with career readiness training and paid employment opportunities for approximately eighteen weeks from November to March.

There are two phases to the program:  Phase 1: Course Instruction and Career Exploration -- students will attend an online CUNY College Now course for 15 hours and then receive 15 hours of online college and career exploration activities. If students complete this aspect of the program they will receive college credit and a $450 stipend. Phase 2: Internship -- if students are successful with phase one, they will be eligible for an internship running between December and March. During the internship, students may earn approximately $3000.
