9th and 10th grade Humanities students have an annual partnership with the Studio Museum of Harlem where they explore and create art.
In the Fall, students visit the museum in order to view and experience the current exhibition. A professional artist from the museum then spends a week in each classroom, working with the students to create art connected to the curriculum. Recent projects have included art prints exploring characterization in the book "Night"; collage expressing themes in the Haitian Revolution; collaborative maps exploring concepts of space and geography; and Greek urns during the mythology unit.
Ask your students about their current project and how it connects to what they are learning in their classes.
